I dedicate this web site to the memory of my father Mario Tonei, a gondolier nicknamed "Cana". In his youth he left a peaceful job to practise this profession unique in the world. He came from a gondolier's descent and he faced with courage and dignity the difficulties he first met whit in this world, starting from the lowest step. During decades of honest work, he managed to make many friends, infact he was esteemed by colleagues and clients. With them he created many lasting relationships which exceeded the simple business ones. With onesty and sacrificenhe archieved aknowledgements and gratifications which took him around Europe.
